Deep reds. Warm shades of yellow. No two ever the same yet each as familiar as a friend.

The only entry in a old journal whose pages are as yellow as the fire those words describe. Words written by a then, young Jon Doren, a loner raised in a fatherless home by his mother though rarely did she act like one, always insisting that he 'grow up' or 'stop acting like a child'.

At times, she would use restraints to exile him to a mere corner of his tiny bedroom when simply locking him in there was not, as she viewed it, enough. Fearing his mother's wrath and the ridicule of his peers he would generally bide his time in a small crawlspace his mother was unaware of.

This sanctuary, like other nooks in the house had more than one door which allowed him to move around the house without detection, a luxury he has long enjoyed...

At far too young an age he began smoking cigarettes, stealing them from him mother usually but occasionally lifting them from a nearby gas station whose busy owner rarely noticed him in the small store area as he was generally servicing a car in the garage portion of the building or out front pumping gas for a customer. Smoking ensured that he always had access to matches or a lighter and playing with them became something of a pacifier.

When he was 17, his mother committed suicide. Her body was cremated, and no service was held. Her remains arrived at his doorstep, having been delivered by the post office like a common piece of mail. He kept her ashes, eventually transferring them from the cardboard box they came in to a wooden box he crafted himself. Into the lid he carved the word 'MOM' in all capital letters, and he put her in the same place where he kept various items that had meaning to him.

He eventually moved a few miles away but he kept the house he grew up in as it had been willed to him. More would likely be made from an insurance claim than from the sale of the house since it was sorely in need of repair. Between the peeling wallpaper, leaky roof, water damage, sloping floors and electrical issues it is probably best left abandoned...

Over the last twenty or so years, countless atrocities have unfolded but many go unsolved. Experts believe it is the work of a single, serial arsonist acting alone. They suspect he probably derives pleasure from these acts and is likely to keep trophies of his exploits. These trophies will probably be the only evidence that will connect him to these crimes.

You will be inside the childhood home of Jon Doren, and he knows you're there… the door is locked, a match is struck.

You have sixty-minutes to find and use these clues to make your escape before you too end up... SCORCHED.

Can your Team Disarm the Explosives

& Escape the Room in Time?

117 reads the apartment number on the door. You examine your surroundings further noting a mirror on the wall and three other apartment doors. The building is very old and has not been well maintained - paint is pealing from the walls, the carpet is dingy and stained and even the air seems old.

For reasons unknown, you have been brought here - no, trapped here by someone who intends to watch you die. Your head is still a little cloudy from the sedatives but you remember clearly the threat of a bomb and that it will detonate in just one hour. The door is locked so your only hope for escape is to DISARM the bomb.

DISARM is optimal with between two and six players.

  • review rating 5  Holy moly. This is the most well thought-out, visually appealing, brain-activating Escape Room experience! The engineering behind the elements of the experience is fantastically well done and unparalleled in the Escape Room industry. I highly recommend this business! Four of us did manage to solve the Disarm puzzle! It was super awesome!

  • review rating 5  This was the by far the best escape room I have ever experienced!! I consider myself to be somewhat of a connoisseur of escape rooms, as I have participated in many. This one was like nothing I have ever seen! The puzzles were actually engaging, rather than just a series of busy work locating a ton of pieces. The effects were amazing and truly made the experience! It was an exciting adventure for our group and we are all looking forward to more rooms at this location!

  • review rating 5  We love internet escape games, this is like walking into one of those rooms. It's fantastic! It's somewhat complex but so challenging as well. It's done with detailed precision for a great challenge. I recommend this to all who enjoy escape type games. My husband and I worked together and did not diffuse the bomb due to overthinking too often, that being said...have fun !! 😉

  • review rating 5  We did this as a team building exercise for work and it was an absolute "blast"! (PUN INTENDED!) Staff was fantastic and the actual escape room was incredible. Would definitely recommend this to anyone needing to try something new and not your typical night out. I can't wait until they open they're second themed room. Would recommend for groups 3-5 people, but definitely doable with 2 but could be scrambling. 4 people just seemed perfect.

  • review rating 5  Just did the two best room in Tampa, FL at Outerlife Studios - Escape Room St Pete. The mechanics, visual appeal, and hands on aspects are unbelievable. Hands down to the brothers that put in the hard work and time into these rooms. Will definitely be back to try any others they open up!

  • review rating 5  Wow. My first experience with an escape room. I went in with pretty low expectations. I mean, how much fun could it be? Turned out to be a BLAST! I thought it would be pretty simplistic but it was actually quite challenging. Make sure you put a good group together because it will take a team effort. Great concept, excellent execution, friendly staff. Can't wait to go back and do the other room!

  • review rating 5  Two brothers spent 3 years engineering these two escape rooms and it shows. We tried the Room 117 experience which is to defuse a bomb and we were very close to solving the puzzle. The other room is under construction and should be finished soon. That one is about finding evidence to incriminate a serial arsenist. The facilities are top-notch, the rooms are monitored by camera and you are in contact with someone right away if you have a question or problem. I would suggest this to anyone who loves solving puzzles, teamwork and like to work under pressure. You have one hour to solve the puzzle. I won't post photos as phones aren't allowed inside the rooms, and not to spoil the experience! Definitely a must-do in St. Pete area!

  • review rating 5  We had the most amazing time in Disarm! 5 of us barely beat the clock with under 2 minutes to spare. The room is amazing and looks very realistic. The puzzles were challenging and exciting to solve. Don’t want to give anything away but the room is very technologically advanced and there is a response everytime you solve something. As my 3rd time in an escape room this was the best place yet and I am excited for more rooms to be opened and created. Couldn’t reccomend it more.

  • review rating 5  Don't normally post reviews, but this was so awesome I had to leave one. Crazy fun, if you're thinking about trying it, do it! Met the owner, a really awesome guy who built the whole thing from scratch, including a lot of really cool tech he built and programmed himself. Well thought out and a ton of fun. Five stars!

  • review rating 5  Done about 20 escape rooms, this one is definitely on my top 3, if you are looking for something fun come here. The owners put a ton of effort into the design and the puzzles. Can’t wait to come back for Scorched!
